It is just a simple adjustment in your Facebook Page Settings. No longer do you have to set yourself up as a local business. You do need to be a Page Admin though.

Facebook Reviews - Setting Up Facebook Page Reviews and Stars

You should understand that your Facebook Reviews and your Star Rating are the same feature. If you turn Reviews off, then you cannot show Star Ratings on your page.

Do not panic if you get a bad review.  If it breaks Facebook’s rules then you can ask to remove a Facebook review but let me tell you, it is a drawn-out process.  Far better to just address it and make sure you get some more good ones.

How to set up star ratings and reviews on your Facebook Page

  • Click Settings at the top of your Page
  • Click Edit Page in the left column
  • Scroll down and click Add a Tab
  • Click Add Tab next to Reviews
  • Switch ‘Show Reviews’ to On
  • Click Save

Notice you can move Reviews up and down your page navigation. If Reviews are important to you, then move them near the top.
If you ever want to share a link directly to your Reviews – maybe in an email asking your contacts for a review – then you can copy the URL as shown.

  • Click Settings at the top of your Page
  • Click Edit Page in the left column
  • Click Settings next to Reviews
  • Click to select Off
  • Click Save

How to get star ratings and reviews on your Facebook Page

Quite simply if you don’t ask you don’t get. Ask your customers and contacts. If you know you have done some good work with them then they should be happy to respond to the request. If they are not then you might get some valuable feedback from them.

Make sure your staff are trained to effectively ask customers whilst they are serving them. Make it fun and inclusive. Do not wait until the customer is leaving. Let them know when they arrive that you are “going to look after them and hope they give you a great Facebook review at the end”. It makes it much conversational and natural.
